Creative Expressions
Annual concert to showcase our dancers' own creative dance visions and choreography. We want to highlight the brilliance of our students as well as provide an extra opportunity to practice choreography and performance.
Form located at the bottom!
This concert consists entirely of original choreography by students from CDM studio. We encourage students enrolled in this program that are interested in choreographing original dances to take advantage of this opportunity to stretch his or her creative abilities.
Each student who choreographs an original composition and would like it to be considered for performance should show his or her dance to a teacher at least once prior to the showing dates below. This is to provide the child with additional feedback and to encourage them to prepare early.
Children not invited to perform in the concert will still have the opportunity to share their dances in front of an audience on Parent Visiting Days in May. Please make sure your child understands this. Also, encourage your child to choreograph continually. We always like to see children’s original work even after the concert has passed.

Whether your child performs in or participates as an observer at the DanceMakers Concert, it is important that he/she experiences this unique event.

Showings
1. Original dances should not exceed 3:00 minutes in length. Dances can (but don’t have to) be based on any of the following: an original poem, sculpture, story, drama, musical composition, event in their life, observation of nature or emotions, etc.
2. Any costuming must be done by student/parent and conform to CDM dress standard.
3. Parents may offer suggestions if the student requests it, but please let this be the child’s work.
No dance should be choreographed and taught to the student by anyone.
4. This should not be an improvised dance. The choreography must be set so the student can repeat it. Students need the challenge of having to remember movement and sequence. Keep it simple.
5. Music should be age appropriate.
No complimentary tickets will be available. All tickets are $5.00 at the door. All tickets are general seating. We appreciate the support you provide by encouraging your child’s choreographic efforts, and we look forward to seeing the children's work!
